Although it doesn’t feel like it today, spring is finally here. Â Just wanted to wish all our patrons a Happy Easter and happy spring season. Â The library will not be closed over Easter weekend, but will be open normal hours. Â If you need a break from the candy and egg hunts, stop in and pick up a good book to relax with.
Comments closedDon’t forget to take advantage of the spring Health Fair Screenings provided by HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital at area locations.  You may pick up a form here at the library to preregister or download the form at http://www.stjoebreese.com
Comments closedDo you know someone who’s recently had a new baby? Â Please let us know. Â The library has a great program where a welcome packet is sent to new parents in the Germantown library district. Â The packet includes a cute bib saying “Read to Me” and several other goodies. Â However if the parents aren’t already library patrons or aren’t in the phone book, we don’t always have access to home addresses. Â Just call us at 523-4820 or email us at gma@gtownlibrary.org, with the parents’ name and address and date of birth of the new addition, and we’ll be happy to send a welcome packet.
Comments closedAs the weather warms up, your thoughts may turn to fishing. Â We’ve got a great lake here in Germantown and if you’re in need of extra fishing poles, the library can help. Â We have fishing rods available, courtesy of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. Â The equipment may be checked out for 1 week.
Comments closedWe now have all the basic tax forms and instruction books for Federal, Illinois and Missouri income tax filing. Â In addition, we have a binder of many more federal tax forms that you can make free copies of as needed. Â When you’re ready to file, stop in at the library to pick up free forms.
Comments closedThe library will be closed Monday, February 15 in honor of Presidents’ Day.
Comments closedLast Friday, our new Lego club gathered for their first meeting and a good time was had by all. Â The theme was transportation and the builders used their imaginations to come up with planes, Â rockets, heavy equipment and even a Batman bus! Â It was decided that the club will meet every Friday at 4pm here at the library. Â Anyone who enjoys building with Legos is welcome to attend. Â There is no charge and no advance sign-up is needed.
Comments closedWant to see what the newest titles are here at the library? Â There are a couple of ways. Â Our newest adult books, audio books and movies are always listed on the New Titles link on this web page. Â Just click on “New Titles” on the bar above this post.
Another way to check what’s new is on the right, under Quick Links. Â Just choose “Library Catalog”. Â You’ll then be able to scroll through a list of titles and photos of book covers for all our latest books for both young and old.
Comments closedThe library is so excited to announce that we are going to have a Lego club. Â What is that, you might ask? Â It’s free, very casual and open to anyone of any age. Â We will provide a theme each month, the meeting space and Legos. Â We’ll keep creations on display here at the library until the next meeting.
It’s as simple as that! Â But while we’ll be able to buy some Legos, we’ll need lots more to have a great club. Â If you or anyone you know has Legos they no longer use, we would love to have them as donations. Â Please drop them off during any library hours or call us at 523-4820 and we’d be happy to pick them up.
