Lego Club is back in full swing!  Anyone of any age can join in the fun.  Just come to the library on Fridays, from 4 – 5pm.  We’ll provide all the Lego bricks and you can feel free to build away.  Between now and Oct. 31, we are offering the theme of Halloween, for those who’d like an idea for what to make.  So far, we have “The Halloween Boom”, “A Colorful Haunted House”, “The Land of Terror” (shown above) and even a special Halloween Rip stick.  We keep these great creations in our lighted display case, so everyone who comes in can enjoy seeing them.

If you don’t have a library card or know someone else who doesn’t, come to the library and get one.  If you live within the school district boundaries of Germantown Elementary School, you also live in the library district and are entitled to a card.  Everyone in the family, from pre-school through adult can and should have their own library card.  You can check out books, movies, music, magazines, eBooks and eAudiobooks, all at no charge!  It’s the best deal around.

Have you seen our new book drop box?  These young men are trying it out on the first day it arrived.  Our old box just rusted through and could no longer be relied upon to keep the books safe and dry.  Our new box is refurbished from its former life working at a movie rental store!  It is brushed steel and guaranteed for life and will hold up to 150 items.  Your tax dollars at work.

This weekend Germantown will celebrate the 49th Annual Spassfest.  It’s a celebration of our German heritage and runs from 4pm Friday August 19th through noon on Sunday August 21st.  There will be rides, games, music, food and drinks.  Come out and visit us!  The parade is scheduled for Sat. Aug. 20th at 5:30pm.  The library’s entry will showcase German fairy tales.  We will be open our regularly scheduled hours on Friday and Saturday.

If you enjoy crocheting or are interested in learning more about it, check out our newest periodical, Crochet!  It is chock full of photos and projects, geared to anyone from beginner to expert.  The autumn issue just came in and would be perfect for planning your fall and winter projects.

Due to the high usage on patron computers, we’ve instituted a 1 hour time limit per person per day.  This will allow more people to access the computers.  Note, this is only for recreational use.  If you need a computer for work, job hunting or school projects, the time limit does not apply.  We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The library will be closed Tuesday, July 26 for the annual St. Boniface Church picnic here in Germantown.  If you’ve never been, come out to Clinton County to see us, have a great fried chicken dinner, play bingo outside for a chance to win a handmade quilt, or enjoy your favorite cold beverage!

Sat. July 16 join us at 10am for a speed sport stacking demonstration and competition.  There will be attendance prizes and refreshments, plus a visit by everyone’s favorite Big Red Dog, Clifford!
