Fall Health Fair

Don’t forget the health fairs taking place around the county this fall.  Sponsored by St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese, they provide screenings and tests at reduced (and sometimes free!) rates.  Dates in November include Nov. 2 in Carlyle, Nov. 16 in Trenton and Nov. 30 in Germantown.  Preregistration is strongly encouraged and forms are available here at the library.

Knitting Club

As the fall days get cooler, our thoughts turn to cozy sweaters and scarves and you know what that means.  It’s time for knitting club to meet again.  This group is open to anyone 8 years and older.  Meetings are held at the library on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, beginning Nov. 3.  Each class runs from 6:30 pm to 7:45 pm and all are welcome – from beginners who want to learn knitting, to those who already knit but may need help or advice with a project.  The cost is $10 for the entire year (November through May) and you should bring a pair of sharp scissors, a size 8 or 9 knitting needle and practice yarn.

Clinton County Amazing Adventure

clinton-county-amazing-adventure-2016-002 clinton-county-amazing-adventure-2016-011 clinton-county-amazing-adventure-2016-007This year we were one of the checkpoints for the Clinton County Amazing Adventure.  What a great time!  There were 17 teams and they had to find their way to 10 different sites scattered throughout the county, based on clues.  Once they found the checkpoints, they were required to complete a task before being given the clue to the next location.  Here at Germantown Library the teams completed a scavenger hunt, finding items in the library from quilts to encyclopedias and fishing poles to local history books.  The Amazing Adventure is an annual fundraiser sponsored by the New Baden Lions Club.  This year all profits went to Western Clinton County Senior Services.
