The library will close December 24, 25 and January 1 for the Christmas and New Year holidays. We wish all our patrons a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2013!

Storyteller Stephanie entertained us with songs and stories on Nov. 15, Family Reading Night. She even got the kids involved with sound effects, sign language and especially using their imagination!
We will be closed Thursday November 22 to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Comments closedWe currently have a great fall display, courtesy of our local 4-H group, the Clovers and Cloveretts. Come see some of the projects these young people have completed and see how you too can become a member.
Comments closedAll children in grades 1-8 are invited and encouraged to attend a presentation by SAFE at the library on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 6:30pm. This hour-long program will teach children how to stay safe online. Students will learn what information is ok and what is not safe to provide online, how to choose appropriate usernames and passwords and how kids can protect themselves while enjoying popular sites such as Facebook.  There will be fun activities, time for questions and hand outs to take home.
Comments closedPreregistration forms for the St. Joseph’s Hospital Fall Health Fair are now available at the library. Health Fair screenings will be held throughout the county during October and November. The first fair will be October 4 at the Breese Knights of Columbus Hall and the final date is November 2 at the Healthplex. Forms must be processed at least 1 week prior to the date you plan to attend.
Comments closedStop in soon to see our current displays. The large glass case is filled with 50 years worth of Smokey Bear memorabilia. Remember, only you can prevent wildfires! We also have on loan a history board on Kaskaskia Island, with great photos and maps.Â
If you have a collection you’d like to loan us for display, please call or come in and speak to a librarian. We’d love to show off your items in our beautiful, lighted, locked display case.

Comments closedNext time you come to the library, if you see a new face behind the counter say hi to our new library clerk, Perri Wesselmann. She was recently hired and will be training during the month of July.Â
Joan Theising will begin cutting back on her hours and plans to retire at the end of the year. Joan has been with the library since it opened in 1995! We will surely miss her, but she promises to continue to help us out as a volunteer.
